  • Sound/alert response — orient to handler, ignore distractions.

Note: still polishing duration settle in busy indoor environments.

ADA Access (U.S.) — Fast Facts

  • Service dogs are not pets; “no pets” rules don’t apply to them.
  • Staff may only ask two questions:
    1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
    2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
  • No paperwork, fees, or vests are required by law (a vest is optional).
  • Dog must be under control; if out of control or not housebroken, access can be limited until under control again.

For HOA/courtyard questions: service dogs may accompany the handler anywhere the public/residents can go.

  • 6-ft leash; long-line for training
  • Optional vest when “on-duty”
